One Manhattan man was killed and two others injured in an accident on I-70 near Junction City late Wednesday night.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the fatality victim as 53 year old Jake Black of Manhattan.  He was a passenger in an SUV which was driven by Steven Green of Manhattan.  Green and another passenger were taken to Geary Community Hospital.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a car driven by 22-year old Gary Nelson of Junction City was westbound in the eastbound lanes on I-70 being chased by law enforcement.  The vehicle being driven by Green made a move to avoid a collision with Nelson’s car. Green’s vehicle then left the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on its top.  Nelson was not injured.  The accident was reported about 10:30 Wednesday night about one half mile west of the East Chestnut Street exit.

According to a Junction City Police Department arrest log, Nelson was booked into jail on charges of vehicular homicide, fleeing and eluding, speeding and reckless driving.
