Authorities Say Fort Riley Soldier Killed in Manhattan Shooting

Police say 22-year-old U.S. Army Soldier Michael Lowery of Fort Riley was found dead at the scene around 4:00 Sunday morning.

It happened on Garden Way in West Manhattan.

Police arrested 43-year-old Matthew Dennis Wilson for murder in the first degree, three counts of attempted murder in the first degree and aggravated burglary.

His bond was set for $2 million.

Three others were seriously injured in the shooting – 23-year-old K-State student Christine Kim of Junction City, 23-year-old K-State student Alexya Mailea of Manhattan and 22-year-old U.S. Army soldier Dustin Ferguson.

The two women were life-flighted to a hospital in Wichita.

Ferguson was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
