A former state representative is in critical condition after a head-on collision Thursday morning.

According to the Lawrence Journal World, 65-year-old John Solbach was driving an all-terrain vehicle west on Stull Road and attempted to make a left turn.

A 1999 Ford Escort came up over the hill and hit the ATV head-on – sending Solbach from his vehicle into a ditch.

He was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

The accident happened around 9:00am.

Solbach was transported by ambulance to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

The driver of the car – 39-year-old Robert Warren, Jr. of Lawrence – was not injured.
