Master plan in the works for Parks and Rec department

Shawnee County commissioners gave their unanimous approval this morning to hire a firm to come up with a master plan for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Commissioners approved the contract with “PROS Consulting,” based in Indianapolis, at a cost of $110,000. The firm will be tasked with coming up with a long-range strategic master plan for the county’s park and recreation department.

A little more than half of the cost will come from the Parks and Recreation Foundation, the rest of the money will come from the department’s budget.
