The fate of a 150 year old Topeka church will have to wait a few weeks.

The East Topeka United Methodist Church at 7th and Lime has had problems since its last service in August of 2012.

Structure damage, foundation problems and out-dated utilities are on the list of things to fix.

It would take $145,000 to repair that damage.

Tuesday night, city council members voted to defer a decision on whether to allow the church to be demolished.

The council isn’t considering demolishing the fellowship and faith ministry building near church.

The council also voted unanimously to approve the refinancing of more than $35 million dollars in utilities revenue bonds…. saving the city $3.4 million.
