Ribbon cutting for historic building

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held earlier today for the Pioneer Motive Power Building.

The historic building is located at 1001 NE Atchison, immediately east of the Branner Street Bridge, has been remodeled into apartments for senior citizens.

The Santa Fe Band performed a mini concert before and after the ribbon cutting.

The building is more than 100 years old. Construction began on a new Santa Fe shop office building in 1909 and opened for service in 1915  and served as railroad offices until 2002.
