Topeka Police have determined an explosive device found in a Topeka neighborhood is inactive.
Around 6 PM Thursday night, officers were called to investigate an explosive device inside a home in the 1600 block of SW Western.
As a precaution, the homes immediately next door were evacuated and those in homes further away were told to stay away from windows.
Police also stopped traffic through the area and the alley west of there.
The bomb disposal unit investigated and determined it was inactive and not a threat.
The area was cleared a little after 7:30 PM.
