Investigators say a Topeka house fire started in the garage.
Firefighters battled a fire fueled by heavy winds yesterday afternoon North of Topeka. The call came out around 2 p.m. of a fire at a home at 808 NE 43rd St. in Shawnee County.
Crews with Soldier Township attempted to put out the flames with the help of the Topeka Fire Department.
According to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowners were working in the back yard when the fire started.
A nearby home west of the house also had some minor damage from smoke and flames.
