The names of two Topeka Police Officers who were shot to death last year are now displayed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Family members of Officer Jeff Atherly and Corporal David Gogian were among those attending ceremonies yesterday when the names of 321 U.S. Law Enforcement Officers were formally dedicated on the walls of the memorial.

As part of the annual police week observance… new names of fallen officers are carved into the granite walls of the memorial site.

The walls contain the names of more than 19,000 officers killed in the line of duty… going back as far as the first known police death in 1791.
