The Greater Topeka Chamber and Go Topeka hosted a reception honoring Topeka’s former mayor.

The chamber recognized the service career of Bill Bunten at its headquarters in downtown Topeka.

Friends, family and former colleagues saluted the long-time politician and presented him with a special collage representing his accomplishments as mayor.

Bunten served in both the Kansas House Of Representatives and Senate, before taking the seat of mayor in 2005.

Bunten says he’s still getting used to retirement, but is looking forward to having more time to spend with his wife and family.
