According to the Topeka Capital-Journal a 7-year old boy suffered minor injuries Friday morning after the bike he was riding collided with a car in the 3100 block of S.E. Indiana.
Emergency crews responded to the accident, which happened around 9:15 a.m. Friday. The child was taken by ambulance to the hospital with abrasions to both elbows and his back.
A Topeka police officer at the scene said the child “darted out” in front of the car, which tried to avoid hitting the youngster. The officer said the boy was riding his bicycle west on S.E. 31st and went through the intersection without stopping.
At the T intersection, the boy traveled directly into path of a northbound car driven by a 17-year-old girl. The girl applied breaks, leaving skid marks on the road, but was unable to avoid hitting the child.
