WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita police say a man in his mid-20s has died after he was apparently electrocuted while climbing a utility pole.

Lt. Dennis Wilson says a passerby saw the man’s body lying near a utility pole Friday. Wilson says it appears the man had put a bike up against the utility pole and used it stand on before trying to climb the pole, where he came into contact with a live wire.

Wilson says the man appeared to have been lying on the ground since overnight and to have been killed instantly.

The Wichita Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/19StLYA) that police say bolt cutters were found nearby. Police have not released the man’s name.
