MoveOn Members to rally in Emporia

Student-Loans

Emporia, Kansas - On Thursday, June 27, as part of a national day of action on student loans, MoveOn.org members will be taking part in more then 50 events across the country, outside congressional offices, on college campuses, and in front of banks, demanding that Congress keep student loan interest rates from doubling on July 1st.

In Emporia, ESU Young Democrats, joined by other MoveOn members, will rally at Emporia State University urging the U.S. Congress to stop student loan rates from doubling on July 1st, and to support Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) Bank on Students Loan Fairness Act, which would give students the same low interest rates that the big banks get for one year.

The rally will happen at Union Square on the ESU campus.

More than 470,000 MoveOn members have signed Sen. Warren’s MoveOn petition calling for students to receive the same low interest rates on their loans that the big Wall Street banks receive.
