Local Boy Scouts were up bright and early doing a civic duty at the Statehouse on the morning of July 4th

Boy Scouts posted 105 flags around the Kansas Capitol beginning at 7:30 Thursday morning.  It’s a collaborative effort between the USD 501 ROTC units and the Jayhawk Area Council.  Flags are also posted at the statehouse on other holidays, including Labor Day and Veteran’s Day.  The flags will be taken down at 6pm today.  In honor of the Boy Scouts of America 100th anniversary in 2010, former USD 501 superintendent and Jayhawk Council Board member, spearheaded the project on behalf of the council.
