People in Douglas County could be seeing a more comfortable place to sleep when taking that summer camping trip.
The idea of building a lakeside destination resort at Clinton Lake has been on the table for about a decade.
The resort will be a 175 room hotel and conference center.
Bids from potential developers and stakeholder interested in the resort attended a pre-bidding meeting July 2nd.
The three departments heading up this project are the Kansas Department of Administration, Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
Clinton Lake is home to many recreational activities like boating, camping and fishing.
Deputy Secretary for the Kansas Department of Commerce, Steve Kelly says he thinks the resort would bring a new feel to the park.
