Easter Seals Capper Foundation celebrates founder’s birthday

Capper

The Easter Seals Capper Foundation is celebrating its founder’s birthday today by celebrating one of the foundation’s success stories.

Matthew Downing has cerebral palsy.  He received physical and occupational therapy as well as speech therapy at the Easter Seals Capper Foundation as a child.

Now 14 years old, he’s set to start high school in the fall in Virginia, where he’ll take honors classes and play basketball.

Arthur Capper was born in Garnett, Kansas in July of 1865.

He was governor from 1915 to 1919. He founded the Capper Foundation in 1920.

For many years from 1908 to 1950, Capper hosted a free carnival for anyone to attend, with thousands attending.
