A Topeka man, who set out to help his neighbors in Kansas… found himself at the White House Monday honored for his work.

Jude Quinn and some friends started Silverbacks two years ago.

The group offers, water, lunches, and a handshake to people in Topeka who’ve fallen on hard times.

The Points of Light Foundation took notice and honored Quinn and other volunteer organizers at the White House Monday.

President Obama honored former President George H.W. Bush at the ceremony.

Points of Light Foundation began after Bush’s “Thousand Points of Light” speech.
