Two people were arrested in Topeka Wednesday night in connection to the shooting death of a Lawrence resident.

The shooting happened just before 6:30pm at a home near 7th and Michigan Street in Lawrence.

Police say the victim was a 51 year old man who died of his injuries a short time after the shooting.

Forty minutes later, Shawnee County Sheriff’s Deputies took a man and a woman into custody near southeast 6th and Rice in Topeka.

Jonathan Rush, 28, of Wichita, was arrested for attempting to flee and elude and driving with an illegal tag.  He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.

Brittany Marie Adams-Humphrey, 19, of Topeka, was also transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.  Both individuals were then turned over to the custody of the Lawrence Police Department.
