The Kansas Department of Transportation is hoping a new detour will keep trucks from getting stuck.

The detour for semi trucks using Topeka Blvd. during the U.S. 24 interchange bridge replacement.

There have been several traffic issues where semi’s have “fallen off” the pavement on Menninger Rd.

The truck detour will now go north to northwest 35th Street to Kansas Ave. through the rest of the project.

Crews will order then put up signs for the truck detour by early August.

The detour for normal traffic will still turn at Menninger Rd.
