Many of the top youth swimmers in the Midwest pay a visit to the Capital City this weekend.

The Topeka Swim Association and Capitol Federal Natatorium host the 2013 Central Zone Championships for swimmers 14 and under.

“It’s a really neat event,” said Dave Carpenter, who is the lead referee. “We’ve got some very fast swimmers here from all over the central United States.”

The event is sanctioned by USA Swimming and about 700 swimmers from nine different states compete for a chance to the represent the region in their respective age group.
