A Topeka dancer….can now call herself a published author.

20-year-old Katherine Linquist is the writer behind the book, “The Twelve Day Christmas of Silverlenne Forest.”

Linquist, who has been dancing since she was a kid, says it’s a different take on the Christmas classic – the 12 Days of Christmas.

She started writing the story when she was 12.

Linquist says her inspiration came when her dance studio at the time wanted to do a holiday production other than ‘The Nutcracker’….so she said, she could write one.

“I just started writing this fairytale that explained who the true loves were, and why there were so many gifts over so many days and all that stuff and princesses and fairies because ballets always have those too….and a battle to save a kingdom and everything,” Linquist said.

There will be a book release party at the end of the month where you can get the book signed by Linquist.

The party with cookies and punch, a chance to have the book signed by the author, pictures with a Fairy or Princess, coloring pages, and 9 Ladies Dancing will be Wednesday, August 28th from 3:30-7:30pm at the Ramada Inn West.

To have the author sign the book, the public needs to order their copy from the website by Aug. 14th, for delivery by Aug. 28th.
