Neighborhoods around Shawnee County will take a stand against crime this weekend.
Yesterday organizers announced plans for The National Night Out Against Crime on Saturday August 10th at Wednesday’s Safe Streets meeting.
A record number of 52 neighborhoods have planned events for the night.
Included in the celebrations are ice cream socials, cookouts, theme parties and street carnivals.
It’s the 30th year for the event which is sponsored by the National Association For Town Watch.
Organizers say it benefits everyone. The group was also presented with the 20-12 national night out award.
