KU football hit the practice field for the first time in full-pads on Monday. The Jayhawks welcome several new faces to the squad, including more than 20 transfers.
“When I asked for my release I was already thinking about Kansas but when Kansas found out I was interested they called me up, brought me up on a visit, and it all happened really fast but it will be interesting to me as well, I was very excited,” Nick Harwell, who transferred from Miami (OH) said. “I was excited and thankful for the opportunity.”
Included in the Junior College mix is one of the top transfers of the 2013 class: Defensive lineman Marquel Combs.
“The dream team is here that’s all I can say,” Combs said. “We’re in here working hard and just trying to put in the most effort we can to put KU back to where it should be.. Orange bowl feeling, bowl game feeling. We want to be the reason why this team comes from here.. All the way to the top.”
