At approximately 10 this morning, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving a semi tractor trailer and a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.
The accident occurred while the semi, which is owned by Royal Logistics, was stopped at the intersection of SW Gary Ormsby Dr. and Highway 75. The train approached from the south and struck the rear of the semi tractor trailer. The semi was hauling pasta to the Forbes Field Industrial Park. There were no injuries reported.
The accident is still being investigated by the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and BNSF. The Shawnee Heights Fire Department assisted with the incident.
No serious injuries were reported in the accident.
The driver of the semi was not injured. Two railroad crew members in the lead engine of the train were reported to have been hit with some flying glass, but refused treatment at the scene.
