Oscar Stark of Sweden set the course record during Wedensday’s opening round of the Firekeeper Classic. Stark finished 2-over on Thursday and remains in a tie for first place in the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series event in Mayetta.

“It’s really a chance for these guys to come up and showcase their skills for the community,” Tyler Wolford, Adams Golf Pro Tour Series director said. “The hope is that some of the guys you see will be up on the PGA Tour here in the next few years.”

The tournament started with nearly 100 players and after two rounds the field was cut to 34.

“We’ve had guys like Bubba Watson, Ryan Palmer have come through this level,” Wolford said. “It’s definitely a treat for us to come up here and play these type of courses.”
