Layoffs, massive budget cuts, and discontent; Shawnee County Commissioner Bob Archer said he expects all three from the 2014 budget process which concludes this week. “No one is going to be happy with the result of this budget setting process,” Archer said during the county commission’s regularly scheduled meeting Monday morning.
Various department heads told the commission proposed budget cuts have them desperate to find alternatives. “I offered up my own personal income to soften the blow to my employees,” said Shawnee County Clerk Cyndi Beck.
“Unfortunately, we’re going to have layoffs in Shawnee County,” said Archer.
