After a perfect record against Big 7 League opponents, the Nemaha Valley Raiders expect a return trip to the postseason.

“We’ve got our quarterback back who threw for 1,000 yards last year,” Nemaha Valley head coach Warren Seitz said. “And we’ve got two really good receivers. And I think we’ve got a back who’s going to be pretty good. So at the skill positions offensively I think we’re alright.”

The Raiders made the postseason but got upended in the first-round against league foe Hiawatha.

“We always look forward to seeing the Friday night lights,” Nemaha Valley senior cornerback/wide receiver Alex Rottinghaus said. “I always idolized all the players, like the older guys as a little kid. I just wanted to be out there like they were when I was older.”

Nemaha Valley begins the season at home against McLouth.

“We’ve got some guys with experience returning so we should be okay,” Seitz said. “But we’re going to have to come out and play every Friday because there are a lot of good teams on our schedule and we should have a lot of competitive games.”
