Starting next year, retail giant Walmart will offer health insurance benefits to same-sex couples and domestic partners.
The company notified the change with a postcard mailed to employees in every state this week.
It applies to same sex couples as well as domestic partners of opposite genders, living together and in a committed relationship for at least a year.
This comes just months after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as between a man and a woman.
Workers will now be able to enroll for these benefits from October 12 through November 1.
