Kan. suspect shoots himself during police stop

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) — A man suspected of threatening another person with a weapon shot himself and later died after being stopped by Olathe police.

The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/17oG3F7 ) the 27-year-old man was stopped by police Wednesday night after police received a report that a man possibly armed with a gun had threatened another person.

Officers responding to the call spotted a potential suspect vehicle in a parking lot. When officers stopped the vehicle they heard a single gunshot. The shooter was taken to a hospital, where police said Thursday he later died.
