Current heat not record-setting

The round of heat over the last several days may seem intense for so late in the summer season, but is falling short of setting any records across Northeast Kansas. Highs projected in the upper 90s and lower 100s will come short of the records on August 30 and August 31, both record highs of 107°.

However, this intense heat has certainly been a stark contrast the first half of the month, when some of the coolest August weather we’ve had in decades was felt for the first 20 days of the month.
