The “Sertoma Great Topeka Duck Race” is this weekend, when thousands of birds get dumped into Lake Shawnee.  Before that all can happen it takes a lot of human leg work.

Last night volunteers came out to help tag 12,000 rubber ducks at Lake Shawnee.  The tags will help organizers figure out who the winning ducks belong to.

The “Sertoma Great Topeka Duck Race” raises money for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Topeka along with a number of other charities and service groups.

The race is this Saturday at 4 in the afternoon with festivities kicking off at noon.

Kansas First News is a proud sponsor of this event.
