TOPEKA, KS — Crime stoppers and getting pictures of their suspects out to the public is crucial to the investigation according to Captain Brian Desch. He explained to Nicolette Schleisman how important those tips to Crime Stoppers are in solving their investigation.

Wednesday, a media spokesperson said that getting those surveillance photos out to the media was what helped them solve the robbery at the Kwik Shop at 17th and Topeka. Desch says the number of robberies of businesses from last year to this year are the exact same. There were 48 business robberies from January 2012 to September 2012, and that is the exact same number of robberies at businesses as this year. But, he says each robbery is different to solve.

“It just depends on the physical evidence and the witness statements and what we have to go on. And some are obviously easier than others but we follow through as much as we can on all of them,” said Captain Desch.

Captain Desch says that while they are still investigating, it is a possibility that the man arrested in the Kwik Shop robbery could be involved with other robberies in the area. He says that there is no evidence tying him to any other robbery in the area right now, but they are not ruling anything out.

Investigations into other recent robberies continue, and if you have any information, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers or detectives.
