An overnight house fire in Silver Lake has left a family of seven without a home.
Shawnee County dispatch took multiple 911 calls late Sunday night at 106 Rice Road. Several people were treated for minor smoke inhalation and minor burns but no one was taken to the hospital.
Silver Lake Fire Department firemen worked the blaze with help from Soldier Fire and Rossville Fire departments.
The Red Cross is assisting the family and the State Fire Marshal is on the scene to help with the investigation. Silver Lake Police Chief Randy Call says two adults and five children lived in the home. No cause has been determined and the house is a total loss. The house is valued at just more than 19-thousand dollars according to appraiser reports.
The local United Methodist Church is organizing a drop off location for clothes and other needed items. The Red Cross is assisting the family and has put them up at a Topeka hotel for the time being. Donations are also being accepted at the Silver Lake State Bank.
