One year ago on Wednesday, the Helping Hands Humane Society moved into it’s new facility on 21st Street in Topeka.

HHHS was once housed in a 13 thousand square foot facility but now enjoys almost 52,000 square feet.

He credits their central location for the positive push to adopt.

They have also seen a significant increase in the number of volunteers.

Before the move, they had about a dozen regular volunteers.

Now, people giving of their own time numbers near 100.

Acree says the shelter currently has between 300 to 400 animals including two ferrets and a rabbit.
