Former Royals All-Stars Billy Butler and Aaron Crow were among those in attendance for Wednesday’s Royals Caravan.

“This is what makes baseball fun,” Butler said. “Without the fans there’s no point in playing and our fans are great. We had a great year last year and our fans are patient, so the time is coming where we’re going to be a good team this year.”

The Royals sent other groups that made several stops throughout the Midwest. Butler and Crow were joined by former Royals outfielder Brian McRae, announcer Steve Physioc and mascot Sluggerrr.

“It’s always nice to come back here,” Crow said. “It’s where I grew up, my family still lives here so it’s always fun to come back.”

The 2014 season is right around the corner with Spring Training beginning next month in Surprise, AZ.

“Last year, we came close and hope that this year is the year we take it over the edge and make a run at the playoffs,” Crow said.  “Hopefully at the end of the year we’re at the top of the division.”
