Experience: A minimum of three (3) years in a similar role preferred.
Requirements: Degree in Journalism preferred.

Details: This position responsible for maintaining smooth and efficient daily operation of newsroom including supervision of newsroom staff. Work with News Director to effectively use available resources in managing overtime and budgets. Act as teacher/mentor/coach to members of the news staff. Work with reporters on story ideas and development. Work with News Director to manage weekly schedule and develop standards and processes for optimal employee performance. Exercise sound judgement and reasoning in handling sensitive and confrontational situations, as well as managing multiple tasks. Interface with all facets of the local community in order to gather information and cultivate news sources. Develop plan to allow for coverage of breaking news while ensuring all regular beats are covered adequately. Provide quality customer service when dealing with viewer telephone calls or visits to the station regarding our news coverage. Support a positive image of Kansas First News. Enhance morale and pride within the news department. Practice positive human relation skills to promote the enhancement of the news department and station working climate. Be able to work holidays and weekends as needed.
