SAFE Program

Teens are buckling up throughout Kansas in the name of safety.

Starting today, state troopers and law enforcement agencies will participate in the annual “Seat Belt Enforcement” campaign at local high schools.

Anyone caught not properly wearing a seat belt will be issued a citation.

The “Seat belts Are For Everyone” initiative is a program administered by high school students.

But State SAFE Coordinator, Laura Moore says the program about even more than seat belts.

“The SAFE program is designed to bring awareness to the importance of wearing a seat belt and also the dangers of distracted and risky driving behaviors,” Moore said.

The program runs through March 7th.
