ESU women advance to MIAA title game

Kansas City, Mo. – Five players for second seeded Emporia State scored in double figures as earned a 90-69 win over #11 seed Southwest Baptist. ESU hit 30 free throws to advance to their fourth straight MIAA Championship game in a row.

For the Lady Hornets Rheanna Egli had 16 points and four assists while Merissa Quick added 16 points and six boards. Kelly Moten finished with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists and Laura Patrick and Kiona Kellog added 11 points each. For the Bearcats Dilonna Johnson led the way with 20 points and five assists. Jacqui Zelenka finished with 16 points and pulled down a game high eight rebounds.

Emporia State will face Central Missouri in the MIAA Championship at 1 p.m. on March 9 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
