Domestic incident in Ottawa leaves 1 person injured

On Monday night around 7:45 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance call near the intersection of East 6th and Burroughs Street.  Responding officers discovered one person was hit by a vehicle leaving the area; Gerald Collins, 35 year-old male from Ottawa was injured after being hit by the vehicle.

A 37 year-old female from Quenemo, was reportedly forced into the vehicle during the initial incident but was able to get out of the car nearby and returned to the scene of the incident; she was uninjured.

The suspect, and another person in the vehicle, fled in the vehicle. The suspect and passenger have been identified; they have not been located.  The vehicle was recovered unoccupied later in the night by police in Ottawa.

Detectives with the Ottawa Police Department continue to investigate the incident.  Police were assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with the initial response and investigation.  The victim hit by the vehicle was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.  The case remains under investigation.
