Just after midnight Tuesday morning, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle crash near K-4 & U.S. 24.

According to Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, a 2007 Mack semi tractor-trailer, driven by Earnestine S. Wilson, 34, of Topeka, was traveling westbound on K-4, attempting to exit onto the on-ramp to westbound U.S. 24 when she lost control of the semi-truck and it turned over on the driver’s side. The on-ramp was closed for nearly two hours in order for Browns Tow Service to remove the tractor and trailer from the scene.

Preliminary investigation at the scene indicated the semi-truck and trailer was traveling too fast and the driver was unable to negotiate the turn safely which caused the tractor and trailer to turn over on its side. Wilson was wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries. No other occupants were in the semi-truck at the time of the crash.
