Lawrence man to stand trial for Valentine’s Day shooting

A Lawrence man in jail for nearly a month will stand trial for a Valentine’s Day shooting.

Thirty-four year old J D Turner was arrested in February for a shooting at “Dad Perry Park.”

Turner appeared in District Court Wednesday on felony charges of attempted first degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm and aggravated assault.

Officers arrived at the park around 2:15 a.m. on February 14, 2014. They found a man in a car with multiple gunshot wounds.

Trial is set for March 26, 2014. Turner remains in jail on a 350,000 dollar bond.
