TOPEKA, Kan. – The Topeka roadrunners have announced that Peter Halash’s jersey, #21, will be officially retired in a pre-game ceremony on Saturday, March 22, 2014, prior to the last regular season home game. In addition, a limited number of commemorative t-shirts will be on sale for $21, and fans will be able to order a #21 Roadrunner jersey for $210. All proceeds will benefit the Peter Halash Memorial Fund at Vision Bank. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the game, as the pre-game ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00 pm
19-year-old Halish played for the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska in 2012 before coming to play for the Topeka Roadrunners. He was a native of Novee, Michigan. The 6’, 180 lb. forward last played a home game against the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
Around 10:45 p.m. on January 5th Shawnee County deputies were called to the 4000 block of SE 21st. Halash’s jeep had run off the road and hit a tree. It’s believed that speed and hazardous road conditions were to blame.
