KANSAS CITY – Maintenance crews continue to do repair work on a Kansas Turnpike Toll Plaza after a tractor-tailor ran into it at highway speed early Saturday.
The driver struck the westbound toll plaza along Interstate 70 near Bonner Springs in Leavenworth County.
KTA Marketing and Communicatiosn Director, Rachel Bell says they have three entry lanes open, one for K-TAG and two issuing tickets.
K-TAG customers must use the dedicated lane on the right because there isn’t equipment to read TAGS in the ticket lanes right now.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger was flown to a Kansas City hospital where he remains in critical condition. The crash is still under investigation.
