TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Employees and guests were allowed to return this evening to a Topeka hotel after it was evacuated this afternoon.
Topeka police say shortly before 2 this afternoon a man came into the Capitol Plaza Hotel, set a package down, made threats and then left. Hotel management called police and the officers evacuated the building while they investigated. A large group gathered for an event at nearby Heritage Hall was held there while police cleared the area. They were eventually allowed to leave.
They say the package was later determined not to be a threat. So far no arrests have been made. We are awaiting additional details from TPD and will update the story here on kansasfirstnews.com and also on our late newscasts.
