Quimby earns MIAA Hitter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Washburn sophomore infielder Marina Quimby has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week for the second time this season after batting .545 with 11 RBI and a .818 slugging percentage.

Quimby batted .545 in six games going 12 for 22 with 11 RBI, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run while walking three times and scoring seven times. She had a .818 slugging percentage and a .600 on base percentage. In the opener against Missouri Southern, she tied a Washburn record becoming only the second Ichabod in program history to record 5 hits in a single game when she finished 5 for 5 with 4 RBI and three runs scored. She was also 1-0 in the circle. She was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored in the second game against Central Missouri and had at least one hit in all six games for the Ichabods during the week. The 5-6 sophomore infielder is a native of Aurora, Colo. where she competed at Grandview High School.

Quimby currently ranks second in the MIAA in batting average with a .430 mark entering play this week. The Ichabods will host Northeastern State on Friday at 2 p.m. and Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Washburn Softball Complex as they wrap up the home slate.
