The League of Kansas Municipalities Board of Directors appointed Erik Sartorius as the next Executive Director of the organization.

Sartorius replaces long‐time Executive Director Don Moler who retired in December of last year after fifteen years as the director.  The LKM governing body conducted a nationwide search for the position, finding a significant number of qualified applicants. LKM President, John Deardoff, City Manager, Hutchinson, Kan., stated “the LKM Board was impressed with Erik’s background and his vision for the League and its member cities. The Board liked Erik’s experience with legislative affairs in Kansas and his proven record of building successful, long‐term relationships with elected officials in Kansas

Sartorius will join LKM from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, where he is the Senior Specialist for Industry Relations. Previously, he was the Director of External Affairs and Assistant City Manager for Overland Park, Kan. Sartorius has also served as the Government Affairs Director for the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors, and began his career in the office of U.S. Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum Baker in Washington, D.C.

A native Kansan, Erik earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas, and a bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Tex., in political science and history. He will assume his duties as the Executive Director for the League on May 12.
