Osage City storage facility destroyed by fire

A race car catches fire inside a storage facility in Osage City Sunday night.

Osage City Police say at about 5:30 Sunday night, were called to a vehicle on fire at the Peterson Storage Facility at 4th street between Lord and Ellinwood, across from the elementary school. Officials say the owner of the car started it so she could back it out of the unit. A few moments later, there was a loud bang, and a fire filled the front of her storage unit.

She was able to get out of the vehicle and unit with a minor injury. The structure was completely destroyed.

A large fire destroyed a storage facility in Osage City Sunday night.

Osage City Police says at about 5:30 Sunday night, the Osage City Police department was called to a vehicle on fire inside a storage facility.

A race car owned by Teresa Wolf was kept inside one of the storage units. Wolf reported she started the race car so she could back it out of the unit. Wolf said with in a few moments there was a loud bang and fire filled the front of her storage unit.  Wolf was able to get out of the vehicle and out of the storage unit with a minor injury.

Osage County Fire District #2 arrived on scene with Osage County Fire District #5 and Osage County Fire District #6 responding as mutual aid.

Osage County EMS responded to check on Wolf. Wolf refused medical treatment and was not transported.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Department and a members of the City of Osage City Street Department and Electric Department also responded to the scene to assist.

The structure is a total loss.
