Community gardens in Topeka: to plant or not to plant?

10905P00-MHAVC

TOPEKA, Kan. – City zoning regulations currently prohibit Community Gardens as a primary use on vacant lots. In collaboration with local community garden advocacy groups, the City of Topeka Planning Department is looking at making it easier to allow Community Gardens as stand-alone uses in residential neighborhoods. Under what conditions are they appropriate? Sales? Hours? Structures? Signs?

The city is asking for your neighborhood input.  Join the discussion at the Community Garden meeting: Date: April 28, 2014 Time: 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Place: Holliday Conference Room, Holliday Building, 620 SE Madison

Learn about the City’s proposed standards and how they compare with other cities.  While you’re there, hear what local organizations are doing to help Topeka gardens grow.  Share with your neighborhood.
