Topeka students turn classroom into rain forest

Some Topeka students spent part of their day Tuesday in a rain forest.

It was actually a Topeka Collegiate classroom where third graders created the natural surrounding. The kids have been learning about the animals, insects and plants that make their homes a rain forest.

This classroom rainforest teaches kids about the importance of conserving their habitat. The school also held its “Trash to Treasure” contest where students create designs from recycled materials.

The projects were a part of the school’s Earth Day celebration.
