Help a Horse event brings dozens from Topeka community

To ensure the prevention of cruelty to animals, a Carbondale horse rescue held an Open House.

The Help a Horse Day was planned by Brenda and Cecil Grimmett, owners of B&C Equine Rescue, Inc. An organization that rescues neglected horses. People got a chance to get up close to the animals and learn about their histories.

The goal is to teach the community, law enforcement, and medical professionals how to properly care for a horse’s needs.

“Trying to let people know what we do in our county and surrounding counties, a lot of these are in rehabilitation and some are for adoption. We’re just wanting to spread the word to everyone and how to care for them and if you have questions, we’re here to help,” said Brenda Grimmett.

The rescue is a non-profit organization and thrives off donations and volunteers.
